A Final Stand: SOPA & PIPA Must Go
Yo, adults of all ages (yes, that means you, too, 18+ year old who doesn't think I'm talking to you), I know sometimes when I get political or humanitarian, it goes over a lot of people's heads...but if you were ever to listen, at least one time, PLEASE let it be this one.
The US Government wants to control the internet...all of it. No, this isn't a "conspiracy" or some YouTube video, this is a fact. It's name is SOPA (House of Reps) or PIPA (Senate).
In attempting to block internet piracy sites, they are handing corporations and the government control over what we see and what we don't see...and under this bill, corporations or government could shut down any website at-will and without reason or due process (including this one). This also means Facebook or Twitter would be held accountable and possibly blocked if a random-user (or even bot, spammer or virus) posted a pirated link.
Some of the largest websites you visit are against the bill, including Facebook, Google, Twitter, YouTube & more. Wikipedia, Reddit, WordPress, Craigslist & have already, or will, shut down for 24+ hours (some starting this morning) in protest of SOPA/PIPA, and Google has developed a petition and censored it's logo in protest. Adam Savage of Mythbusters explained in a blog how SOPA would completely eliminated out First Amendment Rights online.
We do not live in China, or Iran, or Libya, or North Korea, therefore it's important to quit the "there's-nothing-we-can-do-about-it" attitude. We are adults. We are citizens of the United States of America. We can do absolutely everything against these bills. And you can start by signing a petition.

I've had this argument a few times, so I felt I'd rant about it today...but considering I just did on Facebook, I decided instead to just screenshot my argument (which was in reply to mostly opposing remarks) and post it for y'all instead.
Yes, I censored their names because even though they don't agree with me, I still care about their right to privacy. Get it right, son!
Eh, I care about the rights of people who don't have any money...so sue me, Republicans.
